Kindness, Launch Countdown, Day 3
Can you believe it? There are just three more days till the book is released. Today I want to talk about kindness. I have heard it said that kindness doesn’t cost anything, but I think sometimes it can cost a lot. Even so, it is always important to be kind. If everyone were kind, then kindness would not be risky. I think being kind, in spite of the risks, shows strength of character. Ann’s mom agrees with me as you will see in today’s quote.
Today’s Quote
“Kindness is real strength, and it almost always costs something. Sometimes it costs a lot, but it is always worth it in the end.”
Martha Copeland (Ann’s mom)
Why I Believe in the Power of Kindness
In elementary school, I was bullied because of the almond shape of my eyes. I never forgot what it felt like to be bullied over something I had no control over. Because of this, I was often the first to befriend the new kid in school, and I taught my children to do the same. I have always looked at others through almond shaped eyes that sought to see what we have in common as opposed to what makes us different from one another. This is not a hard thing to do. If the people of the world would adopt this way of thinking, the world would be a kinder place for us all. That is a world in which I would love to live.
A World of Kindness
In “Shifts in Time: The Adventure Begins”, there are many qualities that are shared among the main characters. Even so, there are still miscommunications and misunderstandings. These lead way to multiple twists and turns as the book progresses. Kindness doesn’t mean letting others treat you however they want to treat you. It is trying to understand where the other person is hurting, or scared, and loving them through it. Kindness takes real strength, and it is not free. However, kindness is always worth the effort.
